What Our Clients Are Saying

“ELP Notify  is an important tool that we utilize in Crew Scheduling to bridge the gap between our needs managing notifications and what our current software offers. Crew members can utilize the system as they choose by being able to select either app, email, or text notifications, in addition to an automated voice notification. The app tends to be most popular as it offers near real time schedule information and notifications. The dashboard has given us an effective way to manage and track pending notifications as well as information about completed notification. ELP’s team is always there to support us if needed and they are great at developing new solutions based on our needs or advise on how to address a solution we are looking for. ”

Andrew S. – Endeavor Air

ELP Aviation is very dependable, timely, accurate and price conscious…and they are good life and business people. The work they have preformed has been quite excellent and all projects have been reached within budget and on time, allowing us to achieve our goals with a high degree of satisfaction.

Danny C. – PSA Airlines

The report program provided by ELP has been a huge improvement in our daily Crew Management to address and track FAR117 rules. This was one of the few software products we installed over the years that did exactly what we expected, and the service from Erwin and his team is outstanding. We will look to them first for our future needs..

Mark N. – Trans States Holdings/Trans States GOJET / Compass

The company, ELP Aviation, is a great vendor to work with. The owner, Erwin, is a wonderful professional. His schedule is flexible, he is willing to travel (Erwin traveled to 7 cities in 9 days with the Project Manager!), and he has a positive attitude. He knows the airline business well and more importantly, a wealth of Sabre systems knowledge. When we hired his company, ELP Aviation to help implement an automated Deadhead booking solution for the Regional Carriers we knew that a standard solution was going to be a challenge. Erwin recognized that same fact immediately and he provided a software that was adaptable to each Carrier’s individual Deadhead booking needs. Whenever one of the Carrier’s reports an issue – ELP and Erwin have a stellar response time to diagnose the issue and then quickly identify then implement the software solution needed. We are happy and pleased to be working with ELP Aviation.

How Our Solutions Work

Problem

Our customer determined 46% of their crew scheduler’s 8-hour shift was spent gathering and deciphering printed reports from their scheduling system. This meant that only 4.3 hours of an 8-hour shift was dedicated to modifying trips and assigning replacement crew members. They asked if we had a solution that would eliminate this inefficiency and enable them to focus 100% of their shift on managing critical issues.

ELP Solution

ELP’s Scheduling Dashboard accesses the data directly from your legacy operations systems (such as, Sabre, Lufthansa, AIMS, Merlot, etc.) and runs the data through custom logic to produce only the required information. Our customer reported by using our Dashboard, they were able to avoid FAA disclosures as the critical issues are highlighted without the timely search. Their productivity increased, which enabled our customer to focus their attention on modifying trips and replacing crew members in a timely manner, avoiding unnecessary delays and cancellations.

ELP Dashboards

Problem

Customer reported issues with expiring documentation, such as passports and licenses that went unnoticed causing delays. In addition, they were struggling with visibility of the number of SIM slots needed for the current and future months. This led to insufficient scheduled SIM events, causing a crew shortage as pilots had to be removed from the line until they were able to get their SIM time.

ELP Solution

ELP’s Qualifications Dashboard accesses the data directly from your legacy operations systems (such as, Sabre, Lufthansa, AIMS, Merlot, etc.) and runs the data through custom logic to produce only the required information. There is no need to search for critical issues like a needle in a haystack. Our customer estimated our dashboards eliminated 46% of the Crew Training personnels’ workload, thereby enabling them to focus on the critical issues. The number of delays associated with expired documentation reduced. Productivity increased, which enabled our Customer to focus their attentions on monitoring and scheduling training events. The dashboard enhanced their operational efficiency by calculating the number of SIM Slots required for various periods of time.

ELP Dashboards

Problem

Customer was forced to use outdated reports from core software to process payroll, which required tremendous manual interventions to determine crew members’ pay. This led to large-scale errors and over payments, as well as continuous union grievances and crew member complaints. The crew members lacked the ability to follow their pay throughout the month, which means critical pay issues could not be addressed prior to payroll processing. They hired another vendor to create a payroll product for them, but after three years and a large investment, they were unsuccessful at implementing the custom logic required per their union contracts, which left them struggling each month to process payroll manually. ELP’s CrewPay system is a strong, proven, ROI positive software foundation with complete custom logic built to each carrier’s specifications. We purposely design our software to have the foundation and stability of shelf-products, but with the flexibility to alter the logic and add functionality as the carriers’ needs vary.

ELP Solution

We personally met with our customer on-site to spec out their pay rules and learned about their processes, which enabled us to identify legacy rules that may not be spelled out clearly in the contract. ELP was able to program the custom logic our customer needed for a fraction of our competitor’s cost, and we successfully implemented the product within 6 months, eliminating all the manual processes required. Since we are an aviation first company, as part of our CrewPay product, ELP payroll specialists were on call to consult on any payroll issues as our customer renegotiated their new union contract. We were able to consult with them on how the items they were negotiating would be managed by our Crewpay product, saving our customer millions in negotiations.

Crew Payroll

Problem

Our customers are constantly reaching out to us to develop solutions that do not currently exist in the market place.  Since we are aviation people first, we know how to create solutions to fill in the gap between what your core software has and your airline needs.

  1. A Customer requested help automating the results for transition credit pay. They were manually calculating credits to pay their crews when they had transition conflicts.
  2. One of our customers needed a way to adjust rest at base for their FA who arrive from only a certain location. This was part of the FA union contract and their core system could not flag the situation.

ELP Solution

We purposely design our software to have the foundation and stability of shelf-products, but with the flexibility to alter the logic and add functionality as the carriers’ needs vary. We spend time getting to know your company and the policies and procedures you use. With our airline expertise we can make suggestions on how to solve your problems for the highest return on investment.

  1. ELP created a tool that runs once a month automatically, calculates the transitions situations and adjusts the crews pay accordingly. What took an entire day to calculate, now only took seconds to process.
  2. ELP created a graph on the customers dashboard that would display the FA’s who had insufficient rest based on the customers rule. The graph had drilldown capability to display full detail of the FA that needed attention. This solution saved the company from scheduling crews against their contract and avoided grievances.
ELP Custom Solutions

Problem

A Customer who had an operation that was susceptible to large-scale modifications asked us for a solution to minimize the manual ways of interacting with their crews. They were staffed in scheduling for normal operations, but during Irregular Ops, they simply could not keep all their crews informed. Crews complained that the company did a poor job keeping them informed as IROPS unfolded. This caused grievances, discontent, productivity issues, and increased delays and cancellations.

ELP Solution

ELP Notify will send out the scheduling changes in almost real time, generating positive ROI due to prevention of costly potential crew related flight delays or cancellations. Significant annual cost savings will occur. Thousands of notifications can be sent instantly. With automatic legality checks in place, there is no need to monitor, positive communication will occur only once the crew member is legal to contact.

We offered ELP Notify (a module of the ELP CrewPortal), as a solution to our customer’s needs. Crews are now informed of trips added, removed or modified and the exact specifics of what changed, eliminating hundreds of phone calls daily. Our customer reported that ELP Notify has been instrumental in changing the way the Carrier now communicates with its crewmembers.  Crewmember feedback indicated the app was by far their preferred choice of communication, but many indicated they were thrilled with the ability to choose their method of communication based on their individual lifestyles.  The Carrier has now come back to increase the modules within their app, to provide as much communication as possible through our single sign-on approach to communications. Not only was crew member satisfaction increased, but the Carrier was able to save on additional costly staffing for IROPS.  Cancellations and delays were reduced through streamlining the notification process.

ELP Notify

Problem

A Customer with a major hub in an area often affected by winter storms requested a solution to help them minimize the impact of their IROPS.  They were hoping to be able to find ways to minimize the impact of ground and flight related delays without having to incur additional cost by hiring additional staff.

ELP Solution

The first step is to relieve your Crew Scheduler’s from non-critical communications with crew members. Relieving this burden will free up the schedulers to modify trips and replace crew members in a timely manner. The solution we offered our customer was our full communications tool, ELP CrewPortal.  The ELP Notify module of this tool could handle all the notifications with no direct phone calls needed. As well as a series of Apps, where the crews not affected by the IROPS were able to obtain their required information without interfering with the IROPS.

The next step is to identify which pairings/trips need modification in the order of priority allowing the schedulers to deal with the most immediate flights first. We offered several products to handle the multi-faceted areas of this issue. First, ELP Dashboards gave the carrier a full, easily-displayed picture of all critical areas minimizing overlooked issues, such as open segments, open time, reserve figures etc. ELP 117 3.0 predicative modeling tool enabled the carrier to create “what if” scenarios in ORD for the afternoon. The software pointed to the crews that would become illegal due to ATC delays. This provided the carrier a proactive approach to the pending IROPS, which helped them decide which flights to cancel and to plan accordingly.  ELP Cancelled tools and app aligned the critical issues in order of importance for the carrier to fix.  This kept crews informed of their cancelled flights and the status of their pairings, as a prioritized list saved the schedulers valuable time as they were able to focus on the most immediate situations first.

Finally, identifying replacement crew members quickly for the flights impacted. ELP’s Reserve and JR Man tool provides a daily, real-time, reserve priority list, including names and order of notification, and a Jr Man list, which eliminates the time-consuming junior manning process.  The carrier enters the information for the trip to be assigned, and the software will provide you a list of crews who fit the trip with all legalities considered.

By using the ELP IROPS suite, our customer kept control of their operation before the weather hit and were able to recover several hours quicker, because of the automation that was in place.  This saved them over 2 cancellations and many delays in just a small bad-weather day at one airport. Saving them millions in revenue during large-scale Irregular Operations situations.

ELP Irregular Operations

Problem

Our customer reported their core software could identify crewmember’s in an active illegal situation; however, the software lacked the ability to predict or warn of critical legality issues, which caused the airline to have disclosures to the FAA and subsequent fines. The customer has several HUBS that encounter air traffic control and weather delays on a regular basis, they requested a solution to help them analyze the effects of potential delays at those HUBS without changing information in the live system.  This would allow them to foresee and prepare for critical situations ahead of time to minimize delays and cancellations at specific airports.

ELP Solution

Unlike the core legacy systems, ELP offers a full Legality Suite that enables our customers to manage all aspects of flight, duty, and rest legal compliance for pilots and flight attendants.  We were able to deliver a solution to our customer that was more than a report of critical issues.  We offered them a full suite of products providing crews, management, and schedulers increased visibility of legality limits through our 117 Notify App, Dashboards, ACARS, and Predictive Modeling Web-based Tools.  With “What If…” capabilities our Predictive Modeling Tools are designed to give your Schedulers time to solve critical issues before it’s too late.  Our customer reported they were able to foresee, plan for, and solve critical issues ahead of potential delays or cancellations.  The customer can enter ground delays for certain airports during certain times and see how every flight impacted is affected and which crews and trips need to be modified prior to any delays or cancellations occurring in the live system. As part of a full solution, we provided them with communication tools, such as 117 limits app and 117 ACARS, allowing the crewmembers to follow their limits which avoided potential delays and reduced unnecessary communications with the Schedulers, which was instrumental to them during IROPS.  We also provided a Statistical Dashboard giving management the ability to follow along the daily operation and determine past planning issues and plan for crew shortages in the future.
